ActiveYards Windows & Doors: The Riverside Owner's Guide
We stock and install ActiveYards-compatible windows and doors for Riverside homeowners, with most window replacements running $4,500 – $15,000 installed and door swaps landing in the $2,000 – $6,500 range depending on size and hardware. We keep common ActiveYards hardware, latches, rollers, and lock sets on our trucks, so most repairs happen in a single visit. Most Riverside owners catch the problem before total failure: a door that suddenly needs a shoulder to close, a window that drops when you let go, or a lock that spins without catching.
Here’s the thing about ActiveYards products: the frames and panels are built well, but the moving parts take a beating in our dry heat and the Santa Ana dust. We’ll walk you through which part failed, why it failed, and what a real fix costs before we ever reach for a screwdriver.
Penhallow Remodeling Riverside is an independent service provider. We are not affiliated with ActiveYards, but we work on their products regularly across Riverside.
Which ActiveYards Models This Applies To

ActiveYards builds their windows and doors around a modular frame system, which means parts are sized to the series, not the specific house. The main series lines we see in Riverside are the Residential Vinyl series and the Builder Series, and the hardware is not interchangeable between them. Before you order a replacement latch or roller assembly, check the edge label on the sash or the inside of the door frame: ActiveYards stamps series codes there. A Residential Vinyl window will take a different roller than a Builder Series window, even if both measure 36 inches wide.
Most Riverside homes have the standard 600-series single-hung windows and the 200-series sliding patio doors. If the label has worn off, measure the sash thickness. The Residential Vinyl series runs 3-1/4 inches thick on the sash. The Builder Series runs 2-7/8 inches. That one measurement saves you from buying the wrong part twice.
On the OEM versus aftermarket question: ActiveYards hardware is solid, but you’ll wait for it. Their OEM roller assemblies and latch sets are special-order through dealers and take two to four weeks. Quality aftermarket equivalents from Prime-Line or W.B. Marvin get you the same metal-on-nylon construction, fit the same tracks, and cost $15 – $45 per part versus $40 – $90 for OEM. We stock the aftermarket options that match ActiveYards specs and use them on 80 percent of our repairs. If you want OEM, we’ll order it and tell you the lead time honestly.

Signs Your ActiveYards Windows & Doors Is Failing
- The door drags or needs a shoulder to open. This is almost always the bottom rollers. Riverside’s dust works its way into the bearing and grinds it flat. The door gets heavy, then the track starts scoring.
- Window sash drops when you release it. The spring balance or constant-force coil in the jamb has snapped. Left alone, it’ll slam a few times and crack the sash frame.
- The lock spins or won’t throw the deadbolt. ActiveYards multipoint locks have internal actuators that strip over time. It’s not the cylinder. It’s the gear mechanism behind it, and it’s a parts swap, not a locksmith job.
- Condensation trapped between the glass panes. The perimeter seal on the insulated glass unit has failed. Riverside’s daytime heat and cold desert nights speed that up. Once the seal goes, the argon leaks out and you lose both the clarity and the efficiency.
- Draft around the perimeter even when everything’s closed. The weatherstripping has compressed, or worse, the frame has shifted because the original installer skipped the sill pan or shims. We see this in older Arlington neighborhood homes where the stucco has settled.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For an ActiveYards window, parts and labor in Riverside run $150 – $400 per window for rollers, balances, latches, and weatherstripping. Full window replacement runs $4,500 – $15,000 for a typical Riverside home. For an ActiveYards sliding door, parts and labor run $200 – $600 for rollers, latch kits, and track repairs. Full door replacement runs $2,000 – $6,500 installed.
What drives the range: whether it’s one window or twelve, whether the frame is still square, and whether we’re doing a parts swap or pulling the sash and re-glazing the glass. We give you a written price before we pick up a tool. The number on day one is the number on the invoice. Every repair carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the same part fails inside a year, we come back and fix it at no charge, no service call, no re-inspection fee.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely clean the tracks, check for loose screws on the handle, and look at the edge labels to identify your series. That’s worth doing before you call so we know what we’re walking into. Here’s where DIY goes sideways: ActiveYards windows and doors use high-tension spring balances and multipoint lock gearing that’s easy to misalign. A spring balance under load can release suddenly and take a finger off. A multipoint lock that’s installed slightly off will shred the replacement gears in a month. We’d rather you call us at (341) 895-1170 before any part comes off the door.
Give you a number before we pick up a tool – that’s just how this works.
FAQs

Frames and glass should last 20 – 30 years, but the moving hardware – rollers, balances, latches – typically fails in 8 – 12 years in Riverside’s heat and dust. A quick parts swap at year ten extends the whole unit for another decade.
Yes, in most cases. If the frame is square and the glass is intact, the problem is almost always a $15 – $45 part. We’ll tell you honestly if a repair won’t hold and a replacement makes more sense. Call (341) 895-1170 for a free estimate.
Most single-window or single-door hardware swaps take one visit, usually 45 minutes to two hours. We carry common ActiveYards-compatible parts on the truck. If we need to special-order OEM, we’ll tell you the lead time before you commit.
We stock roller assemblies, spring balances, latch kits, multipoint lock actuators, and weatherstripping that match ActiveYards series specs. We also work with KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone cabinetry and countertops when your remodel touches more than the windows and doors. Call (341) 895-1170 and we’ll check the truck before we head your way.
