Cover Kitchen Remodeling: The Riverside Owner’s Guide
If your Cover kitchen remodel is showing its age, we can help. Penhallow Remodeling Riverside installs and replaces Cover-compatible kitchen components throughout Riverside, with full kitchen remodels typically running $14,000 – $45,000 depending on cabinet line, countertop material, and layout changes. Most Riverside homeowners don’t have a single “part” fail. They have a cabinet face delaminate, a countertop seam open up, or a sink flange start leaking under the corner of a Cover-installed counter. When you call (341) 895-1170, we’ll tell you whether it’s a targeted fix or a full replacement, and we’ll put the number in writing before we pick up a tool. That’s just how this works.
We’re an independent remodeler serving Riverside and surrounding neighborhoods. We’re not affiliated with Cover, but we’ve repaired and replaced enough of their kitchen work to know exactly what holds up and what doesn’t in Riverside’s dry heat and hard water.
Which Cover Models This Applies To

Cover doesn’t manufacture a single “Cover kitchen.” Their remodels use a rotating mix of cabinet lines, countertop fabricators, and fixture brands, so compatibility comes down to what’s actually in your kitchen, not a model number on a sticker. Here’s what we look for when we match a replacement part or plan a refresh.
Cabinets: Most Cover kitchens in Riverside use mid-grade framed or frameless cabinets with 1/2-inch plywood boxes and either thermofoil or painted maple doors. Thermofoil doors peel at the edges first, especially near the dishwasher or oven where heat cycles break the adhesive bond. Painted maple holds up better but chips at the corners after a decade of drawers closing against them. We stock replacement hinges, drawer slides, and door bumpers for the standard Euro-style cup hinges Cover typically used. If a door is delaminating, replacement usually makes more sense than repair.
Countertops: The biggest compatibility gotcha we see in Riverside involves Cover-installed quartz and granite tops: seam placement. Cover often ran seams tight against the sink cutout or at the dishwasher return, which are the two highest-stress points on any countertop. A seam that opens there isn’t a bad install; it’s a bad seam location. We move the seam when we replace the top, and we’ll show you why it matters before we cut anything.
The OEM-vs-aftermarket question: For cabinets and hardware, quality aftermarket components (Blum hinges, Accuride slides) often outperform what Cover originally installed. For countertops, we recommend staying with recognized fabricator brands: Cambria, Silestone, and Caesarstone all carry their own warranties that layer on top of our 365-Day Done Right Promise. If you have a Cover kitchen and need a part matched, take photos of the cabinet hinge, the drawer slide, and the underside of the countertop overhang. Those three photos tell us 90% of what we need to know before we even visit.

Signs Your Cover Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- Cabinet doors won’t stay closed or hang crooked. The Euro hinges wear out at the pivot point after years of opening. When the door starts drifting or you have to lift it to close it, the hinge is done. We usually replace both hinges on the door, not one, so the wear is even.
- Drawer faces pull loose from the drawer box. Cover kitchens used glue and staples at this joint, and Riverside’s summer heat cycles soften adhesives over time. This is a straightforward fix when caught early: we re-set the face and add mechanical fasteners so it doesn’t happen again.
- Countertop seams open or darken. As mentioned above, a seam near the sink or dishwasher takes constant thermal stress. Hot pan on the right side, cold sink on the left. The seam flexes and eventually separates. Once a seam opens, water finds its way in and starts degrading the substrate (the plywood or MDF layer under the stone), so don’t wait on this one.
- Sink flange leaks underneath the counter. The silicone bead between the sink and the counter fails after 8 – 12 years in Riverside’s hard water, which is alkaline and slowly breaks down standard silicone. Replacing the bead and re-setting the sink usually solves it, but if the substrate around the cutout has rotted, the countertop has to come out.
- Tile backsplash grout cracks or tiles pop loose. Houses in Riverside’s Arlington neighborhood, along with other areas built before 1980, tend to have more wall movement than newer construction. Grout cracks are rarely a tile problem; they’re a movement problem. The fix requires the right flexible grout and sometimes a movement joint, not just re-grouting with the same material.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

In Riverside, a full Cover kitchen replacement lands between $14,000 and $45,000. A small, cabinet-and-countertop refresh in a galley kitchen starts around $9,000 – $20,000. Here’s what drives the range, and where your money actually goes.
| Scope of Work | Typical Installed Range (Riverside) |
|---|---|
| Full Kitchen Remodel (cabinets, counters, backsplash, sink, fixtures) | $14,000 – $45,000 |
| Small Kitchen Remodel (galley or compact layout) | $9,000 – $20,000 |
| Cabinet Installation Only | $4,000 – $13,000 |
| Countertop Installation Only (quartz or granite) | $2,000 – $6,500 |
| Backsplash Installation | $800 – $2,500 |
| Kitchen Island Installation | $3,000 – $10,000 |
Every number above includes parts and labor, and we put it in writing before work starts. That’s the Kingswell standard: a written price up front, an arrival window we actually keep, and a clean job site when the crew leaves. No change orders when we discover what’s behind the drywall unless you pre-approve the scope change in writing. If your kitchen fails inside the 365-Day Done Right Promise window, we come back and fix it at no charge. That’s in writing too.
DIY or Call Us?
Here’s the honest split. You can safely check three things yourself: whether the cabinet doors are misaligned at the hinge, whether the drawer slides are bent or clogged, and whether the silicone bead around the sink has visible gaps. If those are the problems, you may only need a hardware swap, and you can confirm what we’d charge before committing to anything.
But countertop removal, substrate repair, and cabinet re-facing are not DIY jobs for most people. Countertops are heavy; a single quartz slab can weigh 300 – 400 pounds, and if one slips, it takes a cabinet, a floor, or a foot with it. Substrate rot requires cutting out wet material and replacing it before you set new stone, and getting that wrong means your new countertop cracks within a year. We carry the right tools, the right adhesives, and we’ve done enough of these in Riverside to know where the surprises hide. If you’re not sure whether your problem is minor or structural, call (341) 895-1170. We’ll talk it through, and if it makes sense to send someone out, the estimate is free.
FAQs

Cabinet boxes and quartz countertops typically last 20 – 25 years in Riverside’s climate, but doors, drawer slides, sink seals, and backsplash grout are wear items that often need attention at the 8 – 12 year mark. A well-built replacement kitchen, assembled with proper seam placement and moisture-resistant substrate, should outlast the original installation.
Yes, in many cases. Hinges, drawer slides, door faces, and drawer fronts are all replaceable, and we stock common hardware that matches what Cover typically used. If the cabinet boxes themselves are water-damaged or the frames are separating, repair stops making financial sense and replacement is the better path. We’ll show you both numbers before you decide.
Cabinet hardware and drawer slide replacement usually takes a day or less. A full countertop replacement runs 3 – 5 days from template to install, including fabrication time. A complete kitchen remodel in Riverside typically takes 4 – 8 weeks depending on scope, permits, and product lead times. We’ll give you a defined arrival window for each phase and stick to it.
We stock standard Euro-style hinges, soft-close adapters, drawer slides, cabinet bumpers, and sink-strainer assemblies on our trucks. For cabinet doors, drawer fronts, and countertop slabs, we order to match your exact finish and dimensions. Our materials come from recognized trade brands including KraftMaid, Wellborn, Cambria, Silestone, and Caesarstone, so the parts we install carry their own warranties alongside ours.
No. The written price we give you before work begins is the number on the invoice, unless we find hidden damage and you approve the additional scope in writing first. If we find something behind the walls that changes the job, we stop, show you what we found, and give you a written change order before any additional work begins. Trevor Nash and our crew have been working the Inland Empire long enough to know that Riverside homes, especially in Arlington, keep their surprises behind the drywall. We plan for that and we price for what we expect, not for what we hope.
