ActiveYards Fence Installation: The Riverside Owner’s Guide
ActiveYards fence installation in Riverside typically runs $3,500 – $9,000 depending on linear footage, gate count, and whether we’re pulling old posts or starting fresh. We stock ActiveYards-compatible post kits, rails, pickets, and gate hardware on the truck, and in most cases we can quote the job, pull permits if needed, and get the fence standing within a few days. Most Riverside owners don’t call us because they hate their fence, they call because a gate drags on the ground, a post leans after a Santa Ana wind, or a section of rail pulled loose from the post and now the whole run feels like it’s leaning on one good screw.
Which ActiveYards Models This Applies To
This applies to almost every ActiveYards line sold in Southern California, including the Aluminum, Vinyl, and Composite series. ActiveYards uses a routed-post system on most models, so rails slide into pre-cut channels on the post rather than screwing onto a bracket. That matters more than people think: if your post is from a different ActiveYards series than your rails, the channel depth won’t match and the rail will sit proud or bottom out before it locks. Check the sticker on the inside of the post cap or the underside of the top rail. ActiveYards prints the series name and sometimes a part number there. If the sticker is gone, measure the rail width and the post channel depth and we can identify it from that. On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question, we lean OEM for anything structural like posts and gate frames. For pickets and caps, a quality aftermarket match is usually fine and costs less. ActiveYards specs on their vinyl line run a 0.135-inch wall on residential posts and a 0.080-inch wall on pickets, which is heavier than most big-box vinyl fence, and that’s why a Home Depot post next to an ActiveYards panel looks close but never quite lines up. Penhallow Remodeling Riverside is an independent service provider and not affiliated with ActiveYards, but we’ve installed and repaired enough of their product across Riverside to know what matches and what doesn’t.

Signs Your ActiveYards Fence Installation Is Failing
- Gate drags or won’t latch. This is almost always a hinge-side post that’s leaning, or the gate frame has flexed out of square. In Riverside’s clay-heavy soil, posts shift with wet winters and dry summers, and a quarter-degree lean at the post equals an inch of drop at the latch.
- Rail pulled loose from the post. ActiveYards rails sit in routed channels, so if you can see a gap or the rail wiggles, the post channel has likely cracked at the top, which happens when a post installer over-cut the notch or when high wind torqued the panel repeatedly.
- Pickets popping out of the bottom rail. The bottom rail takes the most abuse from sprinkler spray and soil contact. Once grit and water get in the routed channel, the pickets lose their seat and start rattling.
- Post leaning at the base. If the concrete footing is cracking or the post wasn’t set deep enough for Riverside’s wind zone, you’ll see a lean that worsens after every strong wind event. This is a structural issue, not a cosmetic one.
- White chalky residue on panels. That’s oxidation from UV exposure. It doesn’t mean the fence is about to fall, but it’s a sign the top coat is thinning, and a small crack or two usually follows within a season or two.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For a typical Riverside backyard of 60 to 120 linear feet, an ActiveYards-compatible fence installation runs $3,500 – $9,000. A straight 60-foot run with one walk gate and no demo lands near the bottom of that range. A 120-foot run with a double gate, two walk gates, old fence removal, and a couple of posts set in concrete lands near the top. What drives the price most is linear footage, gate hardware, and what we find when we pull the old posts. Riverside soil holds water in winter and shrinks in summer, so posts need a deeper footing than some installers bother to dig. Parts and labor are line-itemed on the quote, not bundled into one mystery number. The warranty works like this: if the fence fails inside a year, we come back and fix it under the 365-Day Done Right Promise. If a repair fails after we’ve touched it once, the second visit is free.
DIY or Call Us?
You can absolutely check a few things on an ActiveYards fence safely: look for a cracked post channel, test a picket to see if it’s loose, and check whether the gate is out of square by measuring corner to corner. What you should not do is pull a leaning post and reset it yourself, especially on a gate. That post is holding tension from the gate weight, and when it pops free, things move fast. The same goes for concrete footings. Fence work isn’t high-voltage dangerous like a garage spring, but a falling 8-foot vinyl panel in a Santa Ana gust will send you to urgent care. If the posts are sound and the problem is just pickets or a cap, that’s a reasonable Saturday project. If the post is moving, call (341) 895-1170 and we’ll give you a number before we pick up a tool. That’s just how this works.
FAQs

A properly installed ActiveYards vinyl fence lasts 20 to 30 years in Riverside’s climate, but the weak points are the post footings and the bottom rail, not the vinyl itself. UV exposure degrades the surface over time, but structural failure almost always traces back to how the posts were set and whether the bottom rail was kept clear of soil and standing water.
Sometimes. If the concrete footing is intact and the post itself is straight, we can often pull the post, re-plumb it, and add a deeper concrete collar without replacing the post or the adjacent panels. If the post is cracked or the footing has shifted from soil movement, replacement is the honest answer. Call (341) 895-1170 and we’ll tell you which one you have.
Most Riverside installations take one to two days from the first post hole to the final gate adjustment. Old fence removal adds half a day, and if we hit unexpected buried concrete where the old posts were, that adds time but not a change order. The price we quote is the price on the invoice.
We keep standard ActiveYards-compatible posts, rails, pickets, caps, and gate hardware on the truck for common Riverside installations, along with matching gate hinges and latches. If you have an older series with a discontinued color or profile, we order those parts directly so the repair matches instead of looking like a patch. The same standard applies to the other product lines we support, including KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone.
If your ActiveYards fence is leaning, dragging, or coming apart at the rails, call (341) 895-1170. We’ll give you a written price before any work starts, set a real arrival window, and stand behind the install with the 365-Day Done Right Promise. Trevor Nash and the crew at Penhallow Remodeling Riverside have done this work across Riverside long enough to know which fences just need a picket and which ones need a post pulled and reset.
